For years and years I thought I too was named for the Kipling character. When I was about 25, my Dad and I were out fishing and I asked him why I got pegged with this name..and what the heck would he have named me if I was a girl?? (He replied to the girl part, by saying, "I had 'Puff' in mind, but your mother was NOT impressed!!) (hint: refer to our last name!)

As for the tagging of Kim: The story *I* got from Dad was that he had seen a movie that featured one 'Kim Hunter' and liked the name a lot. Later, Kim changed his name to 'Jeff', because he and Kim Novak kept getting confused in media columns and in people's mind. (How one could mistake the two, in MY mind, is beyond belief!! I'm much rather see Ms. Novak than Mr. Hunter in a bikini any day!!!) <g>

I have deeply suspected for years, that since my birthday WAS on New Year's Eve, that alcohol was involved in SOME capacity!! But wouldn't trade the name in for all the $$$ in the world!! :)
