I have an identical twin, Kurt, who is also a physician. A few years ago, I asked my mother why I was named "Kim." She gave me a quizzical look and said "Because your father and I liked the names 'Kim and Kurt'." I was hoping for something a little deeper, but, hey, go figure! I've gotten over the day-to-day hassles that come with my name . . . like going to the bank and explaining to the teller that I'M Kim and, in fact, I'M THE ONE THAT ENDORSED THE CHECK! Or, of course, deciding whether to open the "Ms. Mail." My parents loved the name, and they loved me, and in the end, that's all that counts. I wouldn't change my name for anything.
