My mother claims she knew a boy that lived down the street named Kim and always liked the name, that she wasn't aware of the book by Rudyard Kipling when she named me, but I'm not convinced.

She also broke the future protocol of First Name, Middle Initial. Apparently, she didn't get the memo, but in Texas for some reason, there is a tendency for people to go by their middle name. Until recently, all my credit cards were J K Simmons, since I don't really have a first name, but a first initial. On customer service lines where they see my initial as J and I say Kim, they then refer to me as Jim.
