I used to be self-conscious of my name until I met a guy named Bub. My mother tells me that she wanted to name me after the Book of Kim, but then my grandmother, bless her, suggested that Kimberly would be that much fancier while pointing out the diamond mine. (N.B. Kimberley, South Africa) So there you go, I was named after a diamond mine.

I must not be as brave as the rest of you guys, but after being throw into 7th and 8th grade girls PE, home economics, and having my name called out in school as Miss Dellinger, I started going by my middle name, Bart. Only my birth certificate and passport reveal the truth.

A couple years ago, I was ordained deacon in my church. The officiating clergy insisted that my full name appear on the Certificate of Ordination. Knowing that I had a girl's name, the priest goofed and put me down as "Beverly Dellinger"!! I guess the curse never ends.

I must say, its good to know the we all have a good sense of humor about it.

When people now ask me my real first name and I tell them, they say "Oh come on!" Then I say, "Ya you got me, it's Barton."

Can I still be in the club even if I don't go by Kim any more? You guys should have switched names long ago!
